I know people always ask ';Is there a way to make my hair grow faster?'; And the answer is always no.. but I'm starting to think my hair literally can't grow or grows extremely slow. My mom's hair has been the same length for YEARS and my grandmother told me her hair has never been past her shoulders because it just won't grow. I cut my hair a few summers ago to my shoulders and it has grown about three inches in three years. I get trims about every two or three months.. I hardly ever flat iron my hair or use heat on it yet it gets these horribe split ends no matter what within a few weeks. Could the fact that my hair hardly grows be something genetic? Can I fix this?Genetic Hair Growth Problems?
Everyone has a maximum length that hair will grow - a few people can grow it super long and a few people can't go much below their shoulders. 1/2 inch growth per month is average for most people. Since you get regular trims, your 3 inches in 3 years is probably about right if your hair is close to its natural maximum length. Using a deep conditioner as well as a daily conditioner and keeping up the trims will probably help the split ends. And since your hair tends to be fragile, not using heat is a good idea as well as maybe keeping it around shoulder length.
