Speeding up hair growth...

I'm currently leasing a two year old Appaloosa gelding. His tail is really short and reaches only to his hocks. We've been using his dam's old fake tail for showing but it isn't white enough. I was wondering if there is a product or supplement that could be used to help grow his tail. Thanks in advance!Speeding up hair growth...
appy's are known for having short (if any) tails! this is an appaloosa trait! there are products on the market that work decently, but they all take time. there's no quick fix. there's a powder supplement called nu-image that works great if you can find it. farnam also makes a show coat product that's available at most tack and feed stores. shapley's MTG cream/conditioner will also help grow a tail but it STINKS! it will also make the hair slightly greasy. if this horse is a typical appy, no amount of product will make his tail any longerSpeeding up hair growth...
Appaloosas are known for having sparse manes and tails. The introduction of outside breeds have now produced those unnatural, awful 'Euro' tails. His genetics may prevent him from producing one of those travesties

Even M-T-G may not work.

His sire's whole top side is QH. Might explain the mane. Is his dam registered?
appys don't always grow long tails. many actually don't. there isn't really much you can do. just because there are long tails in his bloodlines doesn't mean he will. his parents were both probably heterogeneous for their long tails and he go the two recessive genes for it. if i have my biology correct here.
your lucky his tail is down to his hocks.

appys are well known for having little to almost no tails or manes.

so it may grow more seeing as hes only two but to the hocks may be just as long as its going to get.

you might just have to get a whiter fake tail.

but if you really want to try, use MTG.

its really really stinky but it works great for growing our arabs tails out.

Try knox gelatin! Not only will the hooves grow strong and fast, but his hair will grow!!! He will be the shiniest you have ever seen him!
