First: print this picture out (in the link above) and take it to your hair-stylist. Cutting AND dying your hair like this would look amazing. Want to really go crazy? Slightly and subtly, add hot pink streaks to your bangs. That would look hot %26amp; funky enough!

--Peace %26amp; love, Stacy(:Hi , Im a 14 year old girl and my hair is just straight and brown I HATE IT !!! I want a new funky hair style!
Shave your head. WWBSD?
If your mom will let you, get purple highlights would probably look really good and be wild enough for you.
die it a rainbow....

like red pink orange yellow greean blue and purple....

u will be the center of attention
look up madradhair on photobucket
how about something like this

http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?medi

but with this coloring

http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?medi
you could cut your hair short and bob it. then you could put some wild crazy highlights in it like blue or purple or hot pink. my friend has that hair cut and color and it looks so cute! good luck
shave it all off..
well u coulld get it layered only slightly at the back and then at the front with a side fringe!then put purple highlights in the fringe!a girl i know did it and it looked unreal!!!it really did!!!
you should cut it short with lots of layers and then put some pink chunks in it!!!
im thinking some major dying, red tips ect. how bout a mowhawk (joking... unless you want 1)

you could spike your hair up

or get an emo side fringe

try cutting your hair chin length, and then having tips.

If your looking for funky find a salon that does funky crazy but appropriate hairstyles..... what i like doing is giving a basic ideas, like telling them how i want the length and hairstyles that i like from celebrities but i but i tend to let my hairdresser go full out with it and be creative..... after all its hair and it will grow out... theres only one time that i didn't like it much and it grew out with in 3 months its pretty fun too!Urgent funky hair style required!!!?
Shortish, shaggy with blond highlights.

You will look like a tiger GGGRRRRRRRRR
Mohawks are pretty hot. I'm being serious.

Just look at old lindsay lohan pictures and you'll pretty much get what I want.

Call me sometime?

Don't freak b/c it's emo or scene hair, some of the styles are awesome.
shave it ginge
You should get the scene rat tail. It's really cute. Maybe even get a peek-a-boo dye job on your bangs =]
Depends what style you want to interpret and how you want people to look at you through your hairstyle. The most modern quirky look at the moment is the modern mullet. Yes, you hear the word mullet and cringe. If you picture, you hair as it is, with lots of short jaggered layers on top, you can scrunch your hair with hair gel or use hair spray for a grudge look. If your not particually sure, get on the net and find pictures of cool hairstyles, and print them off to show your hairdresser, and together you can talk through a hairstyle that would suit you and look great, I mean, thats what they're there for! :) Hope this helps.
have it cut just to the shoulders but long hair and pony tails seem to be popular
short, ruffled and spiky...=]
i find that when i cant find a hair cut i want i dye my hair dark or light
umm...its hard to tell w/o a pic.....buttt definately No MulLeTS!!! that is soooo not in! but i would reccomend a choppy layered cut with some side bangs. maybe some short layers on top so you can tease ur hair a little to add volume and make ur hair look longer after a short haircut

=] hope i helped! **choose me best answer** =]

I need something new. What are the hottest new and funky hair styles?

My hair is short, blonde, and about shoulder length. It kinda grew out of its last style. I need something new, cuz i get bored with my hair style easily and i love playing with it. I need suggestions please! and about highlights... pink or a lighter blonde? yes or no?I need something new. What are the hottest new and funky hair styles?
Well, if you are the playful type, who wants kind of a fun hairstyle, you should get it layered! I have my hair layered (best style eva) If you dont know what it looks like, you can look at my profile avatar. That has layered hair. You could also put some pink or purple streaks in it to add a little funk!

Hope you love the new hair style! -kandyI need something new. What are the hottest new and funky hair styles?
if your really adventurous, try an asymmetrical bob with colorful streaks. if you want to be natural, go for light blond highlights, but if you really do want a funky hairstyle go for the pink (just be sure to choose a pink that compliments your skintone! also, be aware that most colors are semipermanent and wash out so you will need to touch them up FREQUENTLY to maintain the bright, vibrant color).
    who says funky lmao ??????????

    grow your hair longer

long hair is way better and theres so many more things u can do with it

and pink highlights are hot ( =
Pink highlights! like 1 piece of hair would look so cute! If you want your hair short thank I suggest a bob but if you want it longer than grow it out and get bangs!

Hair styles for thick Curly hair?

Does anyone know any sites that show the best haircuts for thick curly hair? My hair is shoulder length and it's curls are in various sizes but no cork-screws. I would suppose it's thickness is more middle-eastern because I mostly get my looks from my Lebanese side.

I'm getting my hair cut Thursday and I'd like a cut that I can wear straight and curly. If I do layers or too short my hair springs up and looks like a giant puff of fuzz. But when I have it all one length it looks good curly but looks terrible and bland when its straight. I want a cute style that looks like something a young lady of 20 would wear so nothing too old or too young.

I'd like credited websites with pictures so I can show my hairstylist but if you could find pics of the hair curly and straight so I can actually see the cut that would be great! Most curly haircut pictures just show a model with fake curls (aka not natural/iron done) and they all look the same so I have no idea what the actually style looks like!

Thanks for any help you can offer! I really appreciate it!Hair styles for thick Curly hair?

My hair is very thick and unmanageable.

I need ideas for my hair.

I dont want to straighten it , because i do that almost every day.

    I dont do ponytails/pigtails either.

I try scrunching my hair and it gets really poofy as it dries.

In the past few hours i tried scrunching while blowdrying on the cool tempature.

Its not as poofy but very stringy.

I really want to wear my hair curly , because straighetning takes around two hours everyday.

Is there anyway to scrunch my hair without it being poofy.

I have scrunching mousse and gel.

Cut your hair into a pixie!

I used to have the SAME thing, wackey, spiral curly hair that I nothing to do with. I cut it into a pixie this summer (i.e. Selma Blair, Agyness Deyn) and its the best ever! I still maintain that curling effect but now it curls perfectly into a 20's S-wave. It's gorgeous. If you have a great face shape and are not too insecure, then go for it!

I have big curly hair too so I know how you feel. When I get out of the shower I spray a root lifter on the roots of my hair to give it volume because you have to have volume with curls otherwise you get a triangle looking hairstyle. Then I distribute mousse throughout my hair because it reduces frizz and keeps my curls intact. Then I take my hair and separate them into section and tie them up with a few hairbows into mini buns and let my hair dry naturally. Next I spray John Friedas curl perfecting spray all over my hair and it leaves my curls soft and frizz free. (that stuff is amazing). Then I let my hair dry all night and take it out in the morning. Finally I tousle my fingers threw it in the morning and my hair is done.

I know it sounds like a lot but it really does work.

Stuff you will need: (its all cheap too)

a good shampoo and conditioner to prevent fizz

    garnier fructis curl mousse

    john friedas curl perfecting spray

a few hairbows and bobby pins

Good hair styles for thick curly hair?

So I have really thick curly hair, I'm getting it cut soon I think, I want something kinda drastic done, it is shoulder length and brown w/ natural highlights, side bangs and short layers. I'm not getting it cut short bc I want it longer, and I can't dye it or my mom would kill me. What can I do to make it different?Good hair styles for thick curly hair?
i think you should let it grow out because longer curly looks better...maybe you could straighten it every now and then? Or you could convince your mom to let you dye it with the non-permanent kind that you can get at like wal mart...it washes out in like a monthGood hair styles for thick curly hair?

    How to style curly hair?

hello i have thick curly hair and i have been growing it out now for over a year and a half now and it's passed my ears. my question is i'm at the stage where i don;t know what to do with my hair. i can pull half back and half down but the hair i leave down gets to puffy when dry and i want to use a hair band but not sure how to style it because with my hair i have to spend along time to get it to go and it sucks. i wet my hair everyday and wash every other with just conditioner and shampoo it once and week and i scrunch to dry my hair in my towel. i love my curls and i was just wondering because i'm in that in between stage what should i do even when i flip my head upside down when i bring it back up it looks like crap. need help because i go crazy doing my hair everyday thanksHow to style curly hair?

Is there a way to style all over curly hair but to tone it down and make it wavy, or like. I'm not sure how to describe it but here's an example.

If you want to run out and pick something up locally, I recommend trying LA Looks or Herbal essences gels (drugstore); Biotera gel and cream (Sally's Beauty Supply); Suave Naturals/vo5 conditioners (really cheap); Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Condish (semi-cheap but super moisturizing, found at organics/specialty stores); red Cream of Nature shampoo (drugstore again); and L'oreal out of bed weightless texturizer (black tub, use under gel). These are all good things to try, and be sure to tinker around with amounts and how you use any products.

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products.

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

    *Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Never use a brush on dry hair, only untangle when the hair is wet.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape.

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or t-shirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

*Once dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I have curly hair and the only way to make it look good is to wear it natural! I went through the times when I hated it and straightened it, but it never looked as good. So here's exactly what I do:

    1. I use Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Shampoo %26amp; Conditioner. I shampoo every other day, and condition every day.

    2. When it's damp, I run Garniar Fructis Anti-Humidity Cream through my hair.

    3. Then I use a good amout of Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Mousse.

    4. I srunch just barely.

    5. Spray a few sprits of Herbal Essence Set Me Up Hairspray.

    6. Let it air dry.

    *Tip: Don't ever brush/comb it!!

BTW- A side split looks awesome!

    Hope this helps!
i relle like to scrunch my hair when i don't straiten it...

its relle easy... all you got to do is wet your sisters hair... or if its just after she gets outta the shower thats perfect.. and while its still wet put ALOT of hair gell im her hair (i like L.A. Looks personaly) and let it shape its slef and dry like that... it should give her a ';wet'; look...

what ever you do DO NOT try to brush or comb out the gelll after it drys... that will just make her hair frizz and become RELLE poofy... to get the gell out shes gott brush it out in the shower...
Try to do her hair half way

use mousse. that really helps me with my curls. and just try to tame your curls and wear you hair down.

    but use a strong mousse
i used to have the same problem, and i neverrr straighten my hair anymore. try using some conditioner (not a lot) and than a curly hair mousse. a little bit of hairspray will do the trick once it starts to dry.
twist pieces of hair around your finger with gel and you will get awesome curls. or you can just put it up in a pony tail, or french braid it.

you can straighten your hair. i recommend the chi, or sedu and any other straightener that is a good brand. you can straighten it and it only takes about 15-30 min. depending on ur hair! sometimes it can take up to an hour tho. but if you don't want to straighten it. curly hair looks really good on some updos as well. experiment with your hair and try different hairstyles and you'll find out new hairstyles that you can do! good luck!

When it's supposed to rain I curl mine by getting a shower in the morning and putting in some mousse.

When it's not supposed to rain I straighten mine with a heat protector spray in my hair.

When I don't feel like taking time to do my hair I just straighten the parts that will fall out %26amp; put it in a french braid, pig tail braids, or a low side braid. How to style curly hair?
I wish there was a way, but I don't think you can calm frizz without product. :[ But all you need is one product if you can somehow comply.

First of all, scrunch in herbal essences' curl-boosting mousse (in the purple bottle) while your hair is still marginally wet to calm down all the frizztasticness (lol, I have that too :\)

Then whenever you can you should get your hair cut a little shorter with layers of course to just above shoulder length. This will thin it out and get all the weight off it.

It's best to let your hair air-dry after you put in the mousse to further discourage the frizzness, but if it's too cold or whatever, just straighten it or you can use a diffuser blow-dryer attachment to dry your curls. WARNING- blow dry AT YOUR OWN RISK because if you dry it too much you'll get EPIC frizz.

(just so you know, I don't know crap about straightening hair, so you're on your own with that one ;] )

    Good luck.
i think your hair is actually reallly goood looking ! i also have curly hair and its a pain , i use this product called REDKEN its Professional and a bit expensive . use the FRESH CURLS products they keep your hair controlled , without making it greasy and nasty ! they have moose and creams . i know you said you dont want to put products but if you have no products in it , its gonna be frizzy and stuff ! but this is Professional and it works ! i use it and i suggest you should too (: Hope i helped !
I understand completely. I have even curlier hair than that!

I suggest product or the leave-in conditioner kind. It takes me five minutes in the morning and I'm poof free all day. If you are against product, then the only thing I can suggest is a perm. Be warned though, you may never get your curls completely back.
my hair is just like yours ! and i hate straightening it everyday.

so i know you said you didn't wanna use products, but now i scrunch my hair everyday , i use ';catwalk curl amplifier'; it only takes about onee minute.

    Give it a chance.

i have fairly thick curly hair.. how can i make my curly more flattering, and appear betterHow to style curly hair?
I'd go for more of a tapered appearance on the sides down to the ears and maybe have the upper sides bulk out a little more. On top, have it a little longer at the front hairline and graduate it shorter in length to the back of the crown. More of a crew cut or ivy league(long crew cut) shape, than a brush cut shape, all the same length on top, as it appears to be in the photos.

Maybe an ivy league adapted to curly hair like this:

    http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/5af0d98

an ivy league on wavy hair; it shows the graduation in length of the top hair:

    http://h.imagehost.org/0168/Kid_with_a_C

a flat top crew cut adapted to curly hair is another possibility. curly hair can add interesting texture:

    http://www.gstatic.com/hostedimg/cf21e10

    crew cut on curly/wavy hair:

    http://a.imagehost.org/0574/Crew-cut_FKH

short crew cut straight hair, note the graduation in length of the top hair:

    http://tbn0.google.com/hosted/images/c?q

    crew cut very curly hair:

    http://h.imagehost.org/0167/Crewcut_Etha

This answer explains the basic short cuts. The first two links contained therein are quite informative:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?

Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.

    1) Towel dry hair.

    2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.

    3)Transfer wax to palms.

    4) Smooth palms over hair.

5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.

Whichever style you decide on, take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.

    Good Luck!

Lets say i sleep on it my hair get messed up and if i brush it it get puffy.

I need to know how to make my curls look nice. How to style curly hair?
Girlfriend...I have naturally VERY curly hair. Mine looks best if I take these steps:

    1. Shower in the AM...not the PM

    2. Comb your wet hair (NO brushing!) (use some leave-inconditioner if necessary)

    3. Part hair...i perfer slightly off-centered

    4. Use Herbal Essense Curl Gel to scrunch your hair. Flirst flip your head upside down and scrunch about a quarter-sized amount. Left head up, use dime-sized amount and scrunch with head upright.

    5. Let hair air-dry!

Try these! :)How to style curly hair?
My hair's naturally curly, but can tend to get a little frizzy and out of control. I've tried EVERYTHING, and the best thing I've ever used to curl my hair was from the Got2b 2 Sexy Voluptuous Volume Styling Lotion - The brand is ';Got2b';. I think it's about 6 or 7 bucks, and you can find it in stores like Acme, CVS, Walmart, wherever. It's in a short, round, red bottle. It's seriously the best stuff I've ever used, better than the products stylist have used on me in salons. I scrunch it into my hair when my hair's wet, and by the time it drys, it looks and feels naturally curly - it doesn't have that wet look or stiff feeling. Never brush your hair out while it's dry and curly, that's how it gets puffy.
Never use a brush on curly hair, comb it with a wide tooth comb or your fingers in the shower.

Don't rub your head with the towel when you get out of the shower, just gently squeeze out the water.

Use a cream styling product and gently squeeze it in as well, then let your hair air dry.

Get a little spray bottle and fill it with water and a bit of the cream styling product, or a bottle or curl reactivator and use that when you wake up in the morning if you aren't going to wash your hair.

The more you touch your hair, the fluffier it will be.

[makes hair look fresh like you just scrunched it]

    http://www.sallybeauty.com/on/demandware

[put this in your hair after a shower it calms the curls and doesnt make it as puffy]

buy a water bottle with a spay on it.. in the morning just kinda pick out the tangles and then start spraying your hair all over.. scrunch as you go to get the curl back. then take some scrunch spray or some mousse and put it all over your hair. but not too much cause it gets hard.then style. good luck. i have naturally curly hair and i use aussie products. its smells great!!
Don't brush it! Use moisturizing products for shampoo, conditioner, and styling. I use herbal essences line for curly hair, I get out of the shower and let it airdry. Don't touch it while it's drying. Curly hair looks best when you let it be.
you might want to put a product called tressemes natural curl gel. when you get out of the shower you partially dry your hair with a towl, then you run trough with your hands about a size of a quarters amount throughout your hair. It will look fabulous!
I would wash it in the mornimg and put some mousse in it. it you can't shower in the morning, just wet it a bit and apply the mousse.
you put it where you want it to be and they use hair spray...

you could tie it up (side pony tails are the trend now)

or you could just leave it down
step 1: go to the store

step 2: buy lots of grease

    step 3: make a fro

    step 4: enjoy
put in mousse. The kind by aussie it smells amazing ;)
    Frizz ease!

    Its the best invention ever!

http://hiphop.popcrunch.com/wp-content/uHow do you style curly hair ?
What do u mean how do u style curly hair? There r many good styles. Styling hair always means damaging, except if u think about pony-tails and stuff like that.

    If u want....

    straight hair:

U can relax it. That means go to the hairdresser's every month to get your hair straightened chemically. Of course it damages a lot, changes your hair's structure, but u will have straight hair all month long.

Don't straighten. That is the worse thing for your hair. Direct high heat burning it. Leads to complete ';dehydration';. So if u want straight hair, relax it. Straightening is horrible, especially with curls that require special care. But relaxing is better.

    Hairstyles:

If u don't like your hair the way it is, long and curly, u can try an up-do. Pony tails and classical up-dos look very luxurious with curly hair. Trendy and practical, it keeps your hair out of the way but styled perfectly.

But, I think curls look best when they are long, bouncy, spreading over your back with all their luxury and beauty. Some care can turn brittle, dry hair into beautiful, bouncy head of curls. Use curl defining shampoo, masks and good conditioners. NEVER scrunch. It will make curls frizzy.

Hope it helps! How do you style curly hair ?
    scrunch it
I don't really know much about curl hair i've never had it, i've got straight hair. Sorry i couldn't help you.
I personally like to wear my curly hair down.

Simply scrunch in some hair product after your shower, wait until it's mostly dried, then finish with a bit of a de-frizzer/smoothing cream if you have too many loose hairs. Try and give your hair alot of moisture because it'll need it and will make your hair lookj even more beautiful! Good luck!
You wet it, put some gel in it and scrunch it. Curly hair is so annoying though. I've had it all my life and it's sooooo hard to manage. It takes a lottt of patience!

    ~hope my answer helps
oh my goodness your hair is hard to manage. i've had many friends you got so frustrated with it that they relaxed it cuz it refused to lie down. fyi that helped. but if you want somethign lesspermanent the try a good moituriser as loong you keep your hair moist then managing it would be much easier. use oil moisturizer to keep it lay down and a light hold spray so it stays that way throught the day. try not to expose your ends to the atmosphere toom uch for example wear nice buns at times plait it up and plait it at night and put it in a satin scarf, dont use cotton it will dry your hair out.

if you're not interested int the straight look, GO CURLY. use a light curl activator it keeps your hair shinyand healthy looking. and your hairstyle looks great whether you let it loose or you put it up.'

    hope this hhelps.

Do not put too much styling products on your hair. It will flatten it and looks unnatural. You can try putting some hair gloss at the hair tips. Curly hair looks nice when it is a bit messy. Try put on a cute side clip.
My boyfriend did this same thing. His was a half-inch long all over, and now he looks like Eddie Vedder. Just let it grow out and put a SMALL amount of gel in it so it doesn't get too wild. Also, be sure to go to a hairstylist every few month for a trim and general shaping... they all have experience with what you want to do, and they will guide your hair in a good direction :) You can totally do this... good luck!

So how can i style my curly hair? My friends told me to flip my hair, and use gel to scrunch it. How does that look? Do you do that when it's dry or wet? lol. JUST PUT IT IN AFTER YOU GET OUT OF THE SHOWER WHILE YOUR HAIR IS STILL WET AND SCRUNCH YOUR HAIR USING YOUR HANDS AND LET IT AIR DRY. HOPE THIS HELPS!
well using gel it usually is used in damp hair

but good straighteners you can like flip your hair and straighten and curl with it so you might want one of those

  • Styling curly hair?

I have naturally curly hair that I usually just straighten every day so my hair is unhealthy and dry. When I let it dry naturally, my curls are all over the place, frizzy and just not good lol. I sometimes use mousse but I hate how it makes my hair crispy. It also splits up my hair into a million tiny curls so it is really poofy. I've tried using a diffuser but it really didnt help that much... How do you style naturally curly/wavey hair to look like soft beach waves? Or are there any products out there that wont make my hair wet and look hard all day?Styling curly hair?
omgawghh i have the same problem to i scrunch my hair....when your hair is wett put in moose ab=nd jell and scrunch it...you could also put in curlers makes your hair not look puffy..also for that frizz get a hot oil treatment bout once a month thats wat i have to do

    How to style curly hair?

i'm not sure what type of style you're looking for, but lately i've been doing a really cute curly hairdo. you just grab a piece of hair right above both ears and twist or braid them and then tie them together in the back. it looks sort of like, ancient Greece hair or something. i don't know. but it's cute with curly hair :)How to style curly hair?
I have crazy curly hair and it drives me insane! I used to straighten every single day and have spent hundreds of dollars on product to straighten it, now, I am just at the point that I am going to love what I was given, keep it healthy and shiny and let it curl...lol, just use some good mousse and let it fall. How to style curly hair?

    How to style curly hair?

my friend has super curly spiral curls. she doesn't know how to do her hair though so its always a bigggg puff ball. i think she brushes it and then just leaves it. its so pretty when its wet then she lets it dry. i want to do her hair for her what should i do? mousse? gel? what? How to style curly hair?
Try John Freida's Frizz Ease Mousse. Great product. Only use your fingers when blowdrying. Do not dry completely. Don't attempt to comb or brush your hair at all after it is dry or you will wind up looking like Diana Ross in the 70's.How to style curly hair?
Only comb curly hair with a wide tooth comb while it is still wet and has conditioner in it. Use a conditioner for curly hair that is designed for curly hair Aveda has great products. When hair is still wet work in a stying product if you use gel make sure it does not have alcohol in it. Take small sections of hair in the front of your head and twist the hair together then wrap it around your finger as if making spiral curls with a curling iron for a few seconds and then gently release it. Let the hair air dry and make sure to leave a little conditioner in it.
You may manage the curls of your hair, and your hair will look tamer/ with neat curly locks. use CITRE SHINE wound up curling mousse(or any product that manages curls) and work on damp (but not dripping wet)hair.

Curl your hair using your fingers. Let it dry naturally.
Use moose, keeps that wet look most of the day. and she is better off brushing it, and then wetting it, then it wont frizz. or brushing your hair when wet.

How do you style curly hair?

i have curly hair and dont know how to style itHow do you style curly hair?
I have naturally very curly hair. I've tried almost every product I can find in my relatively small town and still haven't found one that gives me the results that I'm looking for. However, I have found that using a leave in conditioner and a gel, both for curly hair, works best. Mousse tends to leave my hair stiff and crunchy and curling sprays leave my hair very sticky. Currently I'm using the entire Pantene line for Flawless Curls. The shampoo and conditioner do leave my hair soft and hydrated but I don't see a difference in my curls. Like I just said, the spray left my hair sticky and the leave in conditioner and gel together work okay.

As for actually styling it, I usually apply whatever product I'm using directly out of the shower (in this case, the leave in and the gel) and then scrunch my hair all over and let it air dry. To make sure that my hair doesn't dry flat, I shake it around every few minutes until it's almost dry. For me, this gives it volume. Once it's dry, I either leave it completely down or put half of it back in a clip, but by the end of the day it will end up in a ponytail no matter what.

    Hope this helped!

    B.How to style curly hair?
    well...

when its wet is the only time you can comb your hair (not brush it)

and when drying, don't use a towel, use a t-shirt (to elliminate friz)

so when your hair is slightly damp use a scrunching gel to style

p.s. never blow dry. it will make your hair puffy and frizzy

How do you style curly hair?

i just got a loose curled perm, i love it alot. i just am not sure what kind of products i should use with it? also, how do you blow dry it and with what brushes while doing so? how do you style it, scrunch it? thanksHow do you style curly hair?
i always style from wet, this prevents frizz. frizz is our enemy trust me.

i never use a hairbrush, just comb it loosely with my fingers so you don't loose the volume but loose knots!

i get my parting in, absolute first thing (when it's wet) and then go through it, so there's no knots, then i scrunch with john frieda frizz ease 'Dream Curls' mist spray, by spraying it into my hands and rubbing them through then scrunching (avoid roots, that will just make it seem greasy).

spin your hair around your fingers but let it dry naturally! if you are in a big hurry then towel dry a little before starting or hair dry at the end.

when its dry, use mousse to tame it and keep bounce all day

my favourite mousse is Wilkinson's own brand! and trust me i've tried a few in my day. it also smells delicious

when i go out i use hairspray as well because i won't be stopping to re-do it.

    good luck!

EDIT: just been reading some other answers, curly hair is lovely. don't always straighten it!How do you style curly hair?
Okay, so I have curly hair. I shower in the morning, and use John Fredia frizz control curly hair products. It keeps your hair curly, but then the humidity doesn't effect it. Use Aussie spruch hairspray. When your hair is wet or damp, spray a good amount on, and then squeez your hair. Re-apply is as it starts to dry out. Use a pick or wide tooth comb when you blowdry your hair. Brush it out right when you get out of the shower and then dont comb it or anything after that or it'll make it frizzy (unless your going to put it up).
Go to www.naturallycurly.com and check out the message boards. You will find a ton of valuable information there.

    Some simple tips:

    1. Never brush your hair. Comb your hair when wet with conditioner on it. After you rinse do not brush again.

    2. Avoid shampoos with harsh detergents. You may want to go to conditioner only cleansing.

    3. Air dry or use a diffuser to dry.

    4. Avoid products with silicones. Horrible for curly hair.

    Good luck.
I don't know anything about hair, so maybe what I say will be bad with a perm. but I brush (large comb, like an afro pick or something) my hair in the shower with conditioner and let it air dry. if I touch my hair at all after I step out of the shower something goes wrong. people compliment my hair all the time and that is all I really do.
use any anti friss product, or curl enhancer. I prefer products that are like a vaseline texture. I would apply the product when your hair is damp (towel dried) and I would just let it dry, blow drying curly hair can make it frizz, even if you use a diffuser and product.
i use john frieda frizz ease hair products, they stop ur hair frizzing and leave my hair in nice curls! i sometimes diffuse my hair, but in a hurry i just let it dry naturally, my hair tends to be longer wen i diffuse it; but this is damaging to ur hair.
i hav really curly heair that poofs as it dries so i usually put it in a messy bun with curls sticking out. it looks really cute like that and it only takes 2 minutes to do. it never gets old :)
Blow Dry Get A Round Brush And Frizz Products

    ALWAYS straighten yrr bangs.

and thennnn use a headband to top it off

and let the curls like blow off i guess.
Use frizz products. I usually use Garnier Frizz Control products.
Scrunch it with some volumizing mousse..PLEASE don't use a brush while drying or you will pull out the curl...

What is a good way to style curly hair. I have a layererd bob and naturally curly hair but everytim i diffuser dry it, it goes frizzy and fly away.

How should i style it and what products are good for curly hair, preventing fizz etc.Styling curly Hair.?
Leave-in conditioner (overnight) is a must, to add body to your natural curls, and Frizz-Ease for day-wear; you'll look stunning!Styling curly Hair.?
    ReCoil from AG is amazing!
It sounds like i have the same kind of cut and hair as you. John Frieda is great for curly hair. I you the frizz ease stuff even though it says straight on the bottle its amazing. Then I spritz with the leave in conditioner to help keep frizz down. Its also protects against hot styling.
    Things You'll Need

    Deep Conditioner

    Daily Conditioner

    Leave-in Conditioner Or Anti-frizz Serum

    Steps

1Step OneLearn to like your curls. Straightening efforts and hair relaxants damage hair.

2Step TwoKeep shampooing to a minimum since shampoo tends to dry out hair. If you do wash your hair daily, dilute shampoo with an equal amount of water.

3Step ThreeUse a daily conditioner to keep hair moisturized. Finger-brush your hair while the conditioner is in it. Then rinse.

4Step FourApply a leave-in conditioner or anti-frizz serum to your damp hair.

    5Step FiveDeep-condition your hair once a week.

6Step SixTo touch up your hair in the afternoon, moisten your fingers with water and a small amount of conditioner. Run your fingers through your hair and smooth out the frizz.
I have naturally wavy/curly hair as well. The best product out there that I've used to help prevent the frizzies is FRIZZ-EASE. It really works. Just make sure that you distribute it evenly over your hair BEFORE you blow dry it. If there are a few dry strands afterwards, you can always re-apply it where necessary. Good luck!
I lived for years with very curly hair that i had absolutely no control over and always tied back. now i always twist it, put some serum on, a bit of curling balm and some gel (anything just to smooth it down and hold it in place). then take small sections and twist it around your fingers, starting underneath with the top tied up then working your way up. it might take some practice and take ages to begin with but now i do it about 5 min and my hair is long and very curly.

i don't tend to dry mine but if i do using a diffuser is fine.

    good luck with it!

    How to style curly hair?

my hairs wavy/curly and im not really sure how to style it. what length does curly hair look best(short, long, meddium)? lately all ive been putting it in braids when i go out and leaving it down at home because it gets kinda puffy. how can i have a kinda swoop/side bang if possible? and how can i style it so i look older (im 18 but i look younger)? How to style curly hair?
Curly side bangs are do-able: http://curllove.blogspot.com/2008/11/sid

I'd say medium to long is the best length, just because it keeps the dreaded triangle shape away. And long layers help a lot with drying, untangling, curl pattern, etc. To look older I'd just say more complex hairstyles: half up, clipped to the side, a fancy clip, etc. These are cool: http://www.flexi8.com/

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

    http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products. I would recommend something, but I don鈥檛 know your hair type. :)

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. My hair is the same :) When i shower i use Pantene Perfect Curls Shampoo, Conditioner or John Frieda Frizz-ease for curls. Never scrub your hair dry with the towel, just pat your hair with the towel and leave it damp. Then use a suitable mousse, such as Aussie for Curls, Pantene, Loreal, etc (but pantene is the best) and scrunch it through your hair. I don't reccommend using a hairdryer really unless you use it on cold heat and do not brush your hair through while using it!

For the side Bang thing, i would say get a layer cut into the front of your hair, nothing too drastic to start, and side part it in that direction. u could let it dry curly at first, but if you get a proper side bang cut into it, i would get a large tube brush and very lightly swoop it across, not using the straightner afterwards, leaving a natural wave in it.

Curly hair is best worn shoulder length, unless your hair tends to go quite limp as it grows.

    Hope i helped!! xxx
umm your hair sounds exactly like mine!

I use ganier fructise curl enhancing gel cream (about a quarter sized amount) and scrunch it into my wet hair...then i use a tiny amount of mousse for the underneath of my hair (the part that is harder to get with the cream gel). I use a blow dryer with a diffuser to dry it half-way then i just let the rest air dry. It works best if your hair is long or at least medium.

After that I usually pull it halfway up so its out of my face but it looks kinda like this....

    http://z.about.com/d/beauty/1/0/e/o/mile

Also, if you wanted a swoop side bang you could get one and then just keep that part of your hair straight when you fix it.

Just wearing it down with a little style should make you look older though.
My hair is naturally curly so please listen to my advice, its pricey but it really cuts the frizz and makes it soooo easy to take care of. Use pantene shampoo and deep conditioner to relax the curls. After washing put a small amount of gel in the palm of your hand, La Belle gel is the best. After that use Bed Head for curly locks on your head. You will see curls pop up in your head you never knew existed and you will look beautiful and defrizzed. Good Luck
Length depends on your face shape, really. I side-part mine to the left when I don't straighten it and it's a little shorter than shoulder length.

There are lots of products out there to keep it from looking puffy (mousse, gel, wax). I use a little bit of John Freida's Frizz-Ease and some mousse, scrunch and air-dry after a shower.
i have the same kinda hair

after many years of experimentation i've discovered that the best thing to do is put mousse in it when its wet and scrunch it, then a gel hairspray (i like garnier's for curls gel spray) and blow dry it on low to get shiny bouncy curls

    hope this helps!
omg its the same thing with my hair!!

i really want to have it cut to like square bangs and a short style and then straighten it

    i dunno though

im 14 so dont really know

also it depends what kind of styles your in to

well in order to make it a little more curly i think you should use a curl enhancing product(like catwalk curls rock curl amplifier or herbal essences curl boosting mousse)and scrunch your hair after you put the product in, that should give you a wide variety of curls. As far as styling,i think keeping it simple works, for example use a headband or pigtails are always really cute!

I have curly hair, but I need some new ideas to do to my hair. I usually wear it naturally, in a pony, or straightened. But im sick of just those. Are there any other ideas that i can do? Also, how can i make my hair wavy? i have ringlets, but i want just wazy, not curly. Any ideas? thanks. How to style curly hair?
same here. i would go for a cute style cut. don't be afraid of layers. if your hair is too long and at one length, it can pull down curls. if you layer, you can see better curls in hair. i've gotten a lot of tips from naturallycurly.com

they recommend good products and application tips. How to style curly hair?
I have really curly hair too, I like to put it really loosely up in a ponytail or bun kinda and let a few stray ringlets fall. Loose braids is always cute. A low side ponytail going over one shoulder.

To make it wavy you can wash it at night, put it in one or two braids (kinda tight) while it's still wet, and in the morning when it's dry let it down and it should settle the curls quite a bit. You can also very lightly straighten it.
Hi, I have curly hair too, and straighten it out all the time. Well check out latina magazine, they always have tips for hair styles or check them out on line. After washing it, towel dry it, and comb it out, add mouse, all over, turn your head over and add mouse and blow dry your hair add more mouse, gel too, and hairspray, and blow dry it. Make sure you have time, it'll look so good when your done. My boyfriend loves it when I do my hair this way, he says it looks sexy, and wild. Or if you want it just wavy, blow dry it straight with a big round ceramic brush, and turn it when you blow dry your hair straight, sense your hair is curly, it will curl on the bottom easily, and when your done, by the next day or so, it'll be just wavy. My hair gets that way on it's own, after I straighten it. Again latina magazine on line just might have the advice your looking for. Have a good day.
get a blow dryer with a diffuser (it's a thing that attatches to it and it has plastic things kinda like huge brush bristles on it) and towel dry your hair and spray scrunch hairspray or mousse it. then flip it upside down and scrunch your hair loosely to your head and hold the blow dryer there until it's too hott for you or dry. then repeat.

    How to style Curly Hair!!?!?!?

My hair is medium texture, to the middle of my back and curly. But my hair is so weird. The top layer is medium-curly and the underneath is spiral curls. Also, my hair is straight at the top and doesn't start to curl until around my ears. Idk why my hairs this way, but its natural. And all I can do with it i feel like is to put it in a pony tail :( :(.

Do you guys have any styling tips, or hair-do ideas or ANYTHiNG?? please help me !!! lolHow to style Curly Hair!!?!?!?
its because of your hair cut and length it does this..

get it cut shorter like a little past the shoulders, or even shoulder length and get LOTS of layers, itll make you top layer actually curl like the rest of it.. then when your styling it in the morning, wash it, then comb it (not brush) then put mousse and gel in it -doesnt have to be alot but the mousse will make soft curls and the gel will hold it.. then mess it up and put it up in a towel and leave it up while your doing makeup or whatever else you do.. then after a little take it out and spray it with hairspray (dont need alot) and mess it up with your fingers, scrunch it.. and then let it airdry and your good to go :)How to style Curly Hair!!?!?!?
You should take the top layer of you hair, leave it in curlers over night, and in the morning clip it in the back of your head. Then, if possible straighten the bottom layer. If not, leave it curly, or put them in curlers, too. Also, you can switch. Put the curlers in your bottom layer, and straighten your top layer. Also, you could use curlers all over, a straightener all over, or the same hairstyle with out any curlers or a straightening iron.

    Good Luck!

    Love,

    Olivia.
    alright this is kinda weird...

i have the same EXACT thing with my hair!!!

    (and my name's Marissa too)

its so weird, it only gets curly past my ears and the under layer has really difficult curls while the upper layer just has normal curls!

what i do is after washing my hair, i braid it into 2 sections and then wait for it to dry. then when i take them out, my hair has really pretty waves rather than tight curls.

i also use this John Frieda relaxing cream for curls (it also reduces frizz)
Your hair probably seems straighter at the root because it's so long, it kind of weighs it down.

It sounds like we have the same hair. To make it look more healthy and less weighed down, I got it cut and thinned out a little. It's a little above my shoulders now and even loner when I straighted it. If you do this, make sure our hair stylist knows how to work with curly hair and can give your a sharp cut. But maybe you aren't comfortable with cutting your hair?

My hair is kind of dry so I use products like Redken Real Control Shampoo and conditioner in the purple bottles. When it's towel dry I comb in the Real Control Crema Care with my fingers and let air dry. It's really easy. Redken also makes a line or products specifically for Curly hair in greenish-blue bottles; that works really well too.

    Good luck! Hope this helps.

There is a product called Curl Defining Cream, it is by Matrix. A Biologe product. This will help even out your curl. And make sure you squeeze out all the water, after a shampoo, so that it can absorb. Turn your head upside down and scrunch with a diffuser. Than use a good firm non aerosol hair spray. Hope I helped.
I have curly hair and i've always had trouble keeping it un-frizzie. But I always mouse it while it's still wet and let it air dry. My friend mouses it then blow dries it with a defuser. Either one works well. You would also put it in curlers to make the curls even out.
i too had curly hair. i got it rebonded. lasts fr a yr ( $ 80)

or u can try ironing it
i work in a beauty supply store that sells only to professional hairstylists - and this is one of the biggest questions we get. at least one person a day will ask about the best products for curly hair.

first thing you have to know is that curly hair, by its nature, is drier. this means you need to be sure to use a good shampoo and conditioner that is made for curly hair. just using something with extra moisture won't give your hair the right kind of moisture.

second thing you have to know is that most of the products you can buy at places like walgreens and walmart are not good for your hair. some products contain chemicals that were never meant to be used on hair.

here is what you do: find a salon in your area that carries products by a company called ISO or by a company called KMS. both ISO and KMS have lines of shampoo, conditioner, and styling products that are made to meet the specific needs of curly hair. the ISO line is called Bouncy and the KMS line is called Curl Up. professional products do cost more - but they are really worth the cost. you will get better results because these products address the needs of your hair.

also, find a stylist who will really look at your hair growth pattern and will cut your hair in a way that will play into your growth pattern. you might need to go a bit shorter for awhile to get your hair healthy. the proper hair cut is vital to the overall care and styling of curly hair.
My hair is very similar to yours. :)

    1) You really need to stop with the pony tails - you're likely breaking the hair, which will make those shorter hairs frizzy on top.

    2) Like many other people have said, you probably need a haircut. It's flat/straight on top because there's too much weight pulling at it. You need layers to make the outer layer curlier like your under layer (I had to do this too - it works!). Finding a good stylist can be tough, and I find women with naturally curly hair seem to understand our hair better.

    3) Wash your hair every other day. Curly hair is often dry, which can cause frizz. Use a deep conditioner at least once a week. I use TIGI Catwalk's Headshot Intense Reconstructive Conditioner.

    4) Every stylist I've used for the past 3 years has recommended TIGI Catwalk's Curls Rock line (even the hard-core Aveda people!). I start out with a generous dose of the leave-in moisturizer. I then spray the Curl Booster all over, which REALLY helps to even out the curl pattern. I finish with the Curl Amplifier, which defines the curls and keeps them in place. I then blowdry using a diffuser and LOW heat/speed, focusing on the roots to start. I finish with a light coating of hairspray. The Curls Rock line has a nice one. (I didn't think there was anything special about the shampoo and conditioner from that line - I much prefer the Headshot conditioner.)

    5) Use the Curl Booster and Amplifier to fix your day-2 hair. :)

    6) If it's been awhile since I've had my hair cut and it's starting to get flat on top, I use Catwalk's Root Boost to keep the texture in the top.

    7) I live in a dry climate, so I don't deal with humidity (I deal with static!). If you're in a humid climate, you might consider a product with silicone (usually listed as dimethicone) or something else that's anti-humectant. I would start out with the Curls Rock stuff and see if it just does the trick on its own.

We're actually very lucky - most women with straight hair envy us! :) **My routine (washing through drying) takes about 30 minutes,** while women with straight hair could take an hour or more for the same results and damage their hair in the process.

It all starts with the right shampoo and conditioner. Try Nexxus products or something with lots of moisture. You can always try to straighten your hair ( what I try to do with my curly hair) and looks really nice. But if you don't have the time and/or like your hair curly try putting some clips, headbands, or other hair accessories in. Hope i helped! :]How can i style curly hair?

Both my fiance and I have terribly curly hair. Until he met me, he wore his hair long (middle of his back) and always braided up all nasty. I introduced him to the power of products. His hair is now about an inch and a half to two inches long. He uses TRESemme mousse, the ';curl care'; kind, which he works through his hair when it's wet and then scrunches a bit. He hates having to get his hair wet and ';style'; it every morning, but it always looks great. He gets so many compliments on his hair. Definitely give the TRESemme curl care mousse a shot.

Okay..For the really awesome looking and pretty hairstyles that you see around now, use either plastic or Velcro rollers. Also, its better for your hair, the style lasts longer and you can style it in different ways. This yahoo group has tons of pictures of the latest hairstyles. It takes a little patience because there are so many pictures to view. It might be of help. The link to click on is below.

    How to style curly hair?

I want my curly hair to look more like ringlets and less frizzy individual curls. A friend of mine told me to only shampoo once or twice a week and put lots of conditioner in then scrunch the hair with a towel to dry- will this really work? How can I ringlets? How to style curly hair?
it ur hair naturally curly? if so wash and condition...towel dry, apply leave in conditioner, comb, apply gel, comb, and let air dry. thats how i do mine everyday. i have really curly hair that is ringlets when do it that way. if u dont have naturally curly hair, wash and condition...towel dry, apply gel and scrunch and comb and let air dry.best of luck!! =)How to style curly hair?
    i had the same problem.

for some reason if you bunch your hair in a paper towel when it's completely soaked it makes it less frizzy.

you can diffuse it...but sometimes that's not the best way.

i personally sleep on wet hair (which is really bad, so wash pillow case every day) then define the ringlets with a curling iron.

you can also spray your hair with garnier curl spray...idk why but it's magical
Products are the answer for all of us curly heads! I recommend something creme-based and non sticky. Like Bed Head Ego Boost, or Frederic Fekkai Curling Creme. Definitely don't blow dry.
