Is washing hair 1 or more times a week really helpful for growth?
Best natural oils, and Castor Oil?Best hair growth method for relaxed African American Hair?
I think keeping your hair well conditioned is conducive to growth in that it keeps your hair strong and healthy which keeps it from breaking off. Find a shampoo without sulfates and this will be less harsh on your hair and will not dry it out. I wash my hair every other day, but using a no-shampoo line of products. I'm natural now, and my hair is naturally dry, and I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. When I was relaxed my hair began thriving when I washed and conditioned once a week. Some people wash their relaxed hair more than that. You can also condition your hair without shampoo. Try shampooing with a gentle shampoo (organic or natural) once a week, and using conditioner alone about 2-3 times a week. You'll see that your hair becomes healthier and stronger over time and this will keep your hair from breaking off so it can become longer. I suggest using an organic and natural shampoo and conditioner. Try a health foods store a store like Walgreens and CVS. Giovanni is a hair care line I use; it's certified organic.
I use different oils for different things. I have pure and extra virgin olive oil, pure coconut oil, pure jojoba oil, and grapeseed oil. I use pure olive oil to seal in my moisture. Extra virgin olive oil to do hot oil treatments before I wash my hair. Jojoba oil to baggy overnight. Coconut oil to oil my hair before bed (on nights I don't baggy). Grapeseed oil I don't use anymore. If I were to use any of these oils on my scalp then it would be jojoba or coconut because they are the lightest oils of the bunch. I also have Jamaican Black Castor Oil and I used it once and never again because it causes too much build-up.Best hair growth method for relaxed African American Hair?
Washing hair more than once a week will usually dry hair out, or worse make it break. [Remember that your hair is already weak from the relaxer.] Once every two weeks does the trick for me. Washing and using deep conditioner (any kind will usually do the trick) will help keep hair healthy for maximum growth.
Also, make sure that you trim your hair regularly (whenever you start to get split, or ';dead'; ends) to keep hair healthy.
Honestly, I don't think it matters what kind of oil you put on your scalp (though others will swear differently). Just make sure that you do it frequently. People swear by Jojoba and coconut oils, which are natural products for hair growth. If I were you I'd stay away from petroleum-based, grease-like substances (they can slow down hair growth because they clog your pores).
Hope this helps!
this will help. it helped me add 3 inches in four months. Wash hair once a week (every sunday) with Relaxed and Natural Intensive Moisturizing Pantene ProV fo african hair. Wash twice and rinse, Condition then leave in for 10 min then rinse.
Next deep condition hair with a mayonnaise or a cream with olive oil. Leave in hair for 45 min. Rinse. Apply a leave in hair creme like DAILY OIL CREAM MOISTURIZING from Pantene ProV. Next blow dry hair on medium heat. Flatten using a oil sheen called black magic. Spray moderate amount on whole head. Wrap hair every single night with a silk scarf. -If you need to perm your hair with a relaxer, use Dr. Miracles. After following perm kit directions use hot oil treatment then follow original directions as above and trim ends. Only trim ends after a perm. And perm hair every 2 months as needed.

I cannot stand Dr. Miracles products. Sorry. They contain both mineral oil and petroleum oil which will both clog your pours and slow hair growth. Try to use natural hair products. I like Carol's Daughter hair line. Use a good cleansing system as well. I like Nexxus Therappe Shampoo and Nexxus Humectress Conditioner. If your hair is really dry and damaged and you need to cleanse it try just using the Conditioner and skipping the shampoo. Conditioners contain cleansing products that aren't as harsh as those that are found in shampoo. And let the conditioner soak in for atleast a good half hour to give yourself a good deep conditioning at least once a week. If you are going to relax at home PLEASE do NOT use a box perm like some others recommend. No lye perms are horrible for your hair and will overtime cause damage. I hope these tips help. I constantly am getting complements on my long and health African American hair and am a little to frequently questioned if I have a weave because of the length so I definetley swear by my hair care routine. Good luck!
I have heard nothing but good reviews about DR. Miracles products, they have the full line available, from the treatments, shampoos , conditioners, and relaxers. I just started using some products, So far so good. The Dr. Miracles products are available in most beauty supply stores.
i dont think washing it every day of the week i think getting regular washes every week and trims every 4-6 weeks and using good products like olive oil, carrot oil,and dr.miracles and limit the amount of heat
Eating protein rich foods help hair and nail growth. Beef, beans, legumes, etc. The number of times of washing your hair doesn't have anything to do with it. Eat a healthy diet and you will have healthy, shiny hair.
