my hairs wavy/curly and im not really sure how to style it. what length does curly hair look best(short, long, meddium)? lately all ive been putting it in braids when i go out and leaving it down at home because it gets kinda puffy. how can i have a kinda swoop/side bang if possible? and how can i style it so i look older (im 18 but i look younger)? How to style curly hair?
Curly side bangs are do-able: http://curllove.blogspot.com/2008/11/sid

I'd say medium to long is the best length, just because it keeps the dreaded triangle shape away. And long layers help a lot with drying, untangling, curl pattern, etc. To look older I'd just say more complex hairstyles: half up, clipped to the side, a fancy clip, etc. These are cool: http://www.flexi8.com/

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape.

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or t-shirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

*Once dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products. I would recommend something, but I don鈥檛 know your hair type. :)

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. My hair is the same :) When i shower i use Pantene Perfect Curls Shampoo, Conditioner or John Frieda Frizz-ease for curls. Never scrub your hair dry with the towel, just pat your hair with the towel and leave it damp. Then use a suitable mousse, such as Aussie for Curls, Pantene, Loreal, etc (but pantene is the best) and scrunch it through your hair. I don't reccommend using a hairdryer really unless you use it on cold heat and do not brush your hair through while using it!

For the side Bang thing, i would say get a layer cut into the front of your hair, nothing too drastic to start, and side part it in that direction. u could let it dry curly at first, but if you get a proper side bang cut into it, i would get a large tube brush and very lightly swoop it across, not using the straightner afterwards, leaving a natural wave in it.

Curly hair is best worn shoulder length, unless your hair tends to go quite limp as it grows.

Hope i helped!! xxx
umm your hair sounds exactly like mine!

I use ganier fructise curl enhancing gel cream (about a quarter sized amount) and scrunch it into my wet hair...then i use a tiny amount of mousse for the underneath of my hair (the part that is harder to get with the cream gel). I use a blow dryer with a diffuser to dry it half-way then i just let the rest air dry. It works best if your hair is long or at least medium.

After that I usually pull it halfway up so its out of my face but it looks kinda like this....

Also, if you wanted a swoop side bang you could get one and then just keep that part of your hair straight when you fix it.

Just wearing it down with a little style should make you look older though.
My hair is naturally curly so please listen to my advice, its pricey but it really cuts the frizz and makes it soooo easy to take care of. Use pantene shampoo and deep conditioner to relax the curls. After washing put a small amount of gel in the palm of your hand, La Belle gel is the best. After that use Bed Head for curly locks on your head. You will see curls pop up in your head you never knew existed and you will look beautiful and defrizzed. Good Luck
Length depends on your face shape, really. I side-part mine to the left when I don't straighten it and it's a little shorter than shoulder length.

There are lots of products out there to keep it from looking puffy (mousse, gel, wax). I use a little bit of John Freida's Frizz-Ease and some mousse, scrunch and air-dry after a shower.
i have the same kinda hair

after many years of experimentation i've discovered that the best thing to do is put mousse in it when its wet and scrunch it, then a gel hairspray (i like garnier's for curls gel spray) and blow dry it on low to get shiny bouncy curls

hope this helps!
omg its the same thing with my hair!!

i really want to have it cut to like square bangs and a short style and then straighten it

i dunno though

im 14 so dont really know

also it depends what kind of styles your in to
